Lettera alla Host Family

Ciao a tutti!

Oggi vi pubblico la mia lettera alla Host family, per chi non lo sapesse, la lettera alla host family è una delle cose da fare per l' application online, in realtà ci sono due lettere da scrivere + una breve presentazione:

-Breve presentazione di 5-6 righe per la famiglia ospitante

-Lettera da parte dei genitori per la famiglia ospitante

-Lettera personale per la famiglia ospitante.

Non pubblicherò la lettera dei miei genitori, né tantomeno la presentazione, ma pubblicherò la mia lettera alla famiglia ospitante, magari per farvi capire meglio di cosa si tratta, però per favore non copiatela, nemmeno una riga, è una cosa personale, e copiarla mi sembra inutile.

E con questo, vi lascio alla lettera:

"I'm Martina, I'm a sixteen years old girl who lives in the south of Italy.

It's always been my dream to study in America, and I'm so happy I can finally realize this dream. I've already been in America twice, on holiday, and I fell in love with your country.

The most important reason why I decided to do this experience is because I think this will help me to grow up and because this will help me overcome my fears and my shyness, because yes, I'm really shy and reserved, I don't like going out on Saturday night with my friends, I would prefer staying at home watching a movie enjoying a cup of tea.

I'm really determined to do the things I want to do, and I'm also very determined to make this the best year ever.

I'm not a fussy eater, I eat pretty much everything, there are only a few things that I don't like, and I love trying new types of food.

Here in Italy, I attend a graphic design school, I study the basic subjects (Italian, history, math, English, etc..) and art subjects (graphic design, photography, web design, etc..). When I grow up I would like to be an interior designer. I love decorating my house here in Italy, especially during Christmas time, I love everything about Christmas.

As I said, I'm really shy so don't be worried if in the first few days I don't talk a lot, that's normal, I just need my time to open up and reveal the person I really am. Apart from being shy, I'm also really calm and obedient, I don't like to cause problems to others, I like helping people and I will help you whenever you need a hand, and I'm hoping you will do the same. Overall I'm a nice girl and I think I'm going to be a nice daughter.

I would also like to address that I'm not into drugs, alcohol or anything like that.

I've never been far from home for so long, I want to test myself and see that I can do things without the help of my parents.

What about my family?

There's four of us... sorry I meant six: My father, he's fifty and he is an -----; my mother, she's forty-six and she is a ---; I have an older brother, he's twenty-one and he's a student; then, we have two dogs, Max, who is eleven years old (in human years) and Nicolas, who is only one year old (also in human years), and I love them so much. I get on quite well with my brother, but I think that if he was a couple of years younger we would get on a bit better. I really hope to have a host brother/sister of my age, I think this would be really helpful for me, and I would finally be able to see if having a sibling my age is actually as good as I think.

As I said we live in the south of Italy, the weather here is really hot in summer (that I don't really like), and kind of cold in winter, but it never snows, I kind of like the weather here, but I think it would be ten times better if it snowed. I live near the sea, but I don't like it, I don't really like summer in general, I prefer fall and winter, I just don't like the sea, I don't like going there, the smell of it, I just don't like it at all.

My hobbies:

I think that if I had to make a list, traveling would be the first one, I love visiting new places and come across new cultures; I would totally give watching movies and TV series the second place, I love doing that; as I already said, I love Christmas, I don't want to be repetitive but for me Christmas totally deserves the third place, even if it isn't really a hobby, I just love decorating the house, putting Christmas lights up, decorating the tree, etc..

I also love cooking, especially baking, and I can't wait to make Italian dishes for you, to bring a piece of my Italian home to your house.

Another thing, I'm sure I will love you, you chose me, and this gave me this amazing opportunity to study abroad. I really hope that I'm going to feel a part of your family and that you will be proud of me, I also hope that this experience won't just be amazing for me, but also for you.

Quindi.. questa è la mia lettera, spero vi sia piaciuta e non vedo l' ora di condivide tutti gli step che mi porteranno a questa magnifica esperienza.
